On April 28th 2013. one of the most awaited sport events in Madrid will be held: the Rock and Roll Madrid Marathon. This is an appointment that no sport and music fan should miss, as it mixes the passion of running and the magic of live concerts.
The Madrid Marathon, also known as Mapoma, is a Silver Road Race in the international athletics calendar and it is one of the sport events in Madrid with wider support: this is the 36th edition and almost 10,000 people participated last year.
One of the attractions of running the Madrid Marathon is to have a different view of the city, as runners pass by many monuments of the city: Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, Gran Via street, Puerta del Sol, Royal Palace, Almudena Cathedral and more. The route of this road race also crosses the three most important parks of the city: Casa de Campo, Madrid Rio Park and Buen Retiro Park, where the race starts and finishes.
However, the Madrid Marathon is one of the funniest sport events in Madrid because it is part of the Rock and Roll Marathon Series, a project born in USA that bring live concerts to the race, especially at the start and goal places. Some of the bands that have participated in other editions are Sugar Ray or M-Clan.
