‘Impressionists and Post-Impressionists: the Birth of Modern Art’ is an exhibition in Madrid that demonstrates the good collaboration between the Mapfre Foundation and the Orsay Museum. This event has gathered 80 masterpieces from the Parisian gallery and shows them in the capital of Spain untill May 5th.
This exhibition in Madrid is the continuation of a former collaboration between both institutions: in 2010, the Mapfre Foundation displayed dozens of paintings from Orsay Museum, having a great success. In this occasion, the Madrilenian gallery shows the latest works by Impressionists and Post-Impressionists artists, who anticipated the style and vision developed years later by the avant-gardes.
Some of the masterpieces that visitors will be able to enjoy are related to the constructivism of Cezanne, the Gauguin’s sight of Great Britain and other sublime paintings by Impressionists and Post-Impressionists such as Serusier, Dennis and Vallotton. Visitors should not miss the paintings by Vincent Van Gogh, which show his mad work in Arles in the late 19th century.
The tickets for this exhibition in Madrid are FREE. The Mapfre Foundation is located on 23 Paseo de Recoletos. The closest Metro stations are Banco de España (Line 2) and Colon (Line 4).
